Fort Riley: Soldier guards landed UFO craft
In November 1964, a soldier at Fort Riley, Kansas, guarded a large round object on the ground during guard duty. The account by informant Aaron David Kaback faced credibility issues in later investigations.
Background
Incident
At 2:00 at night, a PFC of the 1st Army Division and three comrades were called out by an officer to a remote training area at Camp Forsyth. They drove there, parked at the roadside, and marched half a mile across open field. A searchlight from a Huey helicopter lit up a large, round object resting on the ground. About 10 other soldiers, among them a major general, were already present.
Observations
The soldier was ordered to circle the object and shoot anyone who approached. He was required to keep silent. For over two hours the helicopter circled while personnel examined the object with instruments. The metallic form was tilted into the ground, measured around 10–15 metres across and 4–5 metres high. It felt warm, had a smooth aluminium-like surface with a black band of square projections, and a fin at the rear with an opening beneath.
Aftermath
The next day the witness heard of earlier UFO sightings in the area. Leonard H. Stringfield obtained the story from informant Aaron David Kaback. Investigations by Citizens Against UFO Secrecy found inconsistencies and judged it of low credibility.
