Inverness: Nixon shows Gleason alien remains
On February 19, 1973, President Richard Nixon reportedly took entertainer Jackie Gleason to a secure facility at Homestead Air Force Base to view preserved small alien bodies. Gleason's wife later confirmed the account, though official inquiries yielded no records.
Background
Background
On February 19, 1973, President Richard Nixon met the actor Jackie Gleason on the golf course in Inverness, Florida. Gleason was a keen UFO enthusiast with a collection of 1,700 books on parapsychology and unexplained phenomena.
The Alleged Visit
Beverly McKittrick, Gleason's second wife, reported that Nixon took Gleason to a heavily guarded area at Homestead Air Force Base in Miami-Dade County. There Gleason was said to have seen the remains of small beings in a top-secret store. The story comes from an unpublished manuscript about Gleason.
Investigations and Reactions
Larry Bryant, editor of the newsletter Just Cause, to which Gleason subscribed, filed a FOIA request with the base concerning the store and the visit. The base denied the existence of any such documents. Bryant also tried to place an advertisement in the base newspaper, which the public affairs officer forbade. He sent Gleason a draft affidavit but received no reply.
Later Confirmations
Shortly before his death in 1987, Gleason was said to have confirmed the story to Larry Warren, an Air Force security policeman from RAF Bentwaters. Warren was connected with the UFO incidents there in 1980. The account remains anecdotal, without official documentation.
