Background

Sighting and Description

On October 23–24, 2010, air force personnel at Francis E. Warren AFB near Cheyenne, Wyoming observed a huge cigar-shaped object manoeuvring high above the missile field. It resembled an advertising airship, but had no gondola and no lettering.

Loss of Communications

At the same time, the link to 50 Minuteman III nuclear missiles was lost. The affected missile alert facilities Alpha to Echo of the 319th Strategic Missile Squadron could no longer control the ICBMs. The air force conceded a disruption of 59 minutes, with backup systems available as a fallback, but two technicians reported intermittent trouble over several hours.

Witnesses and Cover-Up

Several teams of missile technicians saw the object. The squadron commander warned against talking to journalists or researchers about aerial appearances near the missiles and threatened penalties. The sources remain anonymous.

Significance

The event matches reports of UAP at nuclear installations, as documented by Robert L. Hastings, and raises questions about security and possible interference.
